Community ServicesThis department provides all of the visual informative material that can be found throughout the library, and creates and maintains the Library's website. A monthly newsletter, The Elm Leaf, is also generated by the Graphics Department and is sent to all library patrons in the district. Current news, library events, and new acquisitions are listed in each issue. The Graphics Department also handles the library's public relations activities, and the selection and scheduling of most adult programs. Technical Services and AutomationThe Technical Services department is responsible for the ordering, cataloging and processing of all library materials, including books, movies, music and magazine subscriptions. We also repair damaged items and maintain ;the bibliographic database that is our library catalog. There are 18 desktop PCs for patron use. Three of these are Online Public Access Catalogs (OPACs), used primarily for searching for materials in our library and surrounding libraries. Two PCs in Youth Services have filtered internet access using Cyberpatrol. The remaining PCs use Windows XP operating system, and provide Public Web Browser and Microsoft Office 2003 (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher). There is also one document/photo scanner available. The computers have CD burners, but not DVD drives. We do not allow patrons to run their own programs. Youth Services Department
